With around 250 photographic works belonging to many different genres - news stories, places and people, portraits of artists, children, dogs, still lifes, flowers and fruits, landscapes and nudes - Karin Székessy gives us a glimpse into her photographic activities spanning five decades. The spectrum of the photographs on view here stretches from vintage prints made in the darkroom with her own hands to the printouts of digital pictures she has been producing since the year 2000. The hallmark of her work is the one precisely captured moment of seeing something in her own unique mode of perception. Her pictures - whether it is the celebrated pictures of girls from the 1970s or more recent flower and landscape motifs – are characterized by an exquisite sense of aesthetic balance, by beauty and sensuousness, and yet frequently also reveal a feeling for the comedy and gaiety of life.
